A Gun or a God?
We don't have a gun crisis. We have a spiritual and mental health crisis. We do need to find a way to keep guns away from wackadoodles. But speaking as one of the millions of law abiding gun owners in this country, you'll never have anything to fear from me. That is unless you come at me or my family sideways. Then you might want to worry.
That is the point of the second amendment. We have the right to defend ourselves against domestic dumbasses.
How this latest nut job got his hands on a weapon needs to be investigated. I personally believe those responsible for allowing him to get a gun, bullets, and who also knew he was off in the head and didn't do anything about it, should be charged. They are as guilty as the idiot that pulled the trigger.
As for the spiritual and mental health issues, I believe we are seeing more of this because our society has turned it's back on God. We are full of fear and hate. We don't love each other. We are more selfcentered than ever before. Anything and everything is being labeled as ok. We are not allowed to question anyone's behavior anymore. Discipline has been tossed out the window, along with personal responsibility, ethics, and acknowledging that evil exists.
Parenting is a joke as well. In a lot of households life is all about the kids and what they want. Parents are bankrupting themselves trying to make their kids their buddies and trying desperately to keep them happy. No more do parents make church a priority, and heaven forbid that you'd force your children to go. But you drag them off to be a part of a travel ball team. You'll justify it in your head by saying things like "He/she might go pro one day and it'll all be worth it." When all your doing is feeding your and your child's ego, all while neglecting your responsibility to teach them about God.
You want a better nation? You want a safer nation? Then get on your knees daily before the Lord. Ask him to forgive your sins. Read His word. Read it to your children. Go to church as often as you can. Pray with and for your kids. Live life on purpose. Put away your addiction to material things. Build relationships with you neighbors. Go do something for someone else. Get your mind off of yourself and focus on others, then teach your children to do the same. Stop making excuses for your kids and instead make them mind. Teach them to be a responsible positive part of our society.
Any person that gives up their will for God's will, is going to be less likely to do things like shooting a bunch of children or anyone else for that matter. Christians are often the butt of many jokes these days. We are looked at as backwards, and narrow-minded. But I ask you what is wrong with that? As a friend told me today, many of us wish for simpler times. Well life doesn't get much simpler when you are living and walking the way Jesus did. The apostle Paul said it best:
" Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Philippians 4:11-13 (KJV)
