The Perfect Gift
What this time of year reminds me of is my God is alive. As I prepare to celebrate the birth of my King, I know that Jesus is alive. But you say, Eddie, Jesus was crucified. He died on the cross between two thieves! He was buried in a borrowed tomb. He is dead! I'd have to agree with that. However, that's not where the story ends! After three days in the grave. After being almost abandoned by those He loved most. After the Jewish rulers were sleeping off their drunken stupor from celebrating their victory over this teacher and troublemaker. After Satan's head had swelled and he'd spike the ball and done his victory dance. After everyone saw Him die like all the other false profits before Him. HE AROSE! THANKS BE TO GOD, HE AROSE! The stone rolled back, Jesus stood up, and He walked out of that grave! But still this wasn't the end. After spending a few days with His followers and leaving them instructions about how to carry out His work, He ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father, making a way for you and me to be in a right relationship with God. So as I gather with my family this season, my number one job is to give them the perfect gift. That gift is a deeper understanding of who God is and how to have a relationship with Him. After all He is the reason for this season.
